Why I did?
After having so many experiences, I began to form the theory that having a foreign partner makes life more interesting. It’s exciting to spend time getting to know their culture and exchanging language. It turns out it was a brilliant idea.

I already spent my Christmas with locals last year. Still eating turkey is pending, but it is okay. I watched a lot of American movies. Well, Halloween could be the other important event to be spent with locals. Local means for me, people who celebrate an event by their own culture. (more…)

People say that I learn a language fast when I start to make sentences in Italian after learning French and Spanish. I try to explain them that there is no significant differences if you already know one of those languages. What is a Turkish wedding?
Marriage is very important in a person’s life and in Turkish society. When I tell my Turkish friends that marriage is less important in Europe and that lots of people live with their romantic partner without getting married, people get very surprised. Except in a very few areas, you cannot do this in Turkey. In Turkey, virginity is still a very important and sensitive topic, so we see early marriages in Turkey for this reason. (more…)
During my travels I have come across lots of ignorant questions and weird comments about Turkey. As a Turkish, I feel responsible to enlighten people up on common misconceptions about Turkey and share those wrong known facts. (more…)
